@trinidypicks: UFC: BELFORT vs BISPING

"If Michael Bisping wins, he gets the shot." - Dana White1

Last time Bisping was in such a position, Chael Sonnen grabbed the title shot. Michael Bisping felt robbed of the opportunity along with many of his fans.  Will he allow Vitor Belfort to walk away with a title shot he deserves?

VELASQUEZ challenges DOS SANTOS' heavyweight belt at UFC155

UFC 155: DOS SANTOS vs VELASQUEZ 2

SATURDAY, DEC 29, 2012. at MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA

"Trilogy in the making?"

Didn't see that one coming. #TheVoiceFinals

Today just wasn't my day.  First I lose two-virtual $1's to @SurferKenLive on a friendly we made for Season 2 Ink Masters.  I had Tatu Baby - who didn't even make the Finals , and he took Steve.. then we went double or nothing on me with Sarah and Sebastian .. in the end, Steve won.  Of. Course. Story of my life, right?

So feeling down on the lost $2virtualdollars, decided to hit up my pvr to start The Voice.

I got all set up, clicked off all the lights. Turned on the Christmas tree lights.  Plate of shortbread cookies ready. Grabbed a can of CocaCola fresh from sitting in the snow (at -11 degrees Celsius) for half an hour.  "This is it." I thought to myself. "Nick or Terry is gonna take the whole thing."

Then I hit PLAY.

and Cassadee Pope wins.  Thanks a lot Alison Sweeney for giving up on Terry and proclaiming Cassadee as your winner. - Don't worry, I'll still watch you on Biggest Loser! :)

oh and lastly.. Happy Birthday Christina Aguilera!

#UFConFOX BENDO vs DIAZ : LW Belt on the line.

What's a more wonderful way to start off my afternoon than with the reminder that there will be FREE UFC Fights this weekend!  ( .. but being Filipina, I'll be entertained by boxing hero Manny Pacquiao - and PVR the fights.)

@trinidypicks blog: X Factor Live Performance 1

I guess I managed to hype myself up for the X Factor live show way too much because last night's show did not do it for me.  Out of the 16 performances, I only liked the following 4:

Winter is coming...

I wish I was still in the JUNGLE!

Probably one of the best trips I've had in awhile.  I believe this was taken in the Honduras?  My memory seems to have a snag but I do know that it was amazing there!  Considering I hate bridges over water, this picture turned out pretty awesome - you can hardly even tell that I'm hanging on for my dear LIFE!

Michael Phelps sinks 153-foot (53-yard) Putt at Dunhill Links Championship

Michael Phelps sinks 159-foot (53-yard) Putt at Dunhill Links Championship

OCTOBER 7, 2012: St. Andrews, Scotland. - Dunhill Links Championship

Michael Phelps stunned the world again.

Not for his handful of Olympic medals - 22 to be exact; 18 of which are GOLD!

Instead, he has crossed over to the golf world to partner up with Pro Paul Casey for the Dunhill Links Championship. There Phelps made another jaw-dropping feat. Managing to sink a 153-foot putt (53 yards) .. in 17 seconds!

Here's what Micheal Phelps had to say about playing in the tournament:

"Being able to play in this event as an amateur and to play alongside so many great golfers has been memorable, and there is so much history attached to the Old Course in particular that you can really feel it around you.  I very much hope I get another invite, because it is something I would definitely love to experience again."

to stock or not to stock?

Trying my hand with the Toronto Stock Exchange.  Five months ago I decided to enter a position with OceanaGold Corp (TSE:OGC).  It has proven successful at it's close today.  For weeks there was buyer uncertainty which had me having to hold the stock.  Finally, I was able to take my investment out to recover my book value and still keep 5 lots.  Feels good.  What shall I look at next ...

Goodbye Summer. Hello Fall.

Dear Summer,
Thank you for the beautiful sunny weather this year. Appreciated every moment the sun drenched me in its harmful hot rays. Found delight taking dips in the frigid cold lake.  Loved each moment I got to spend with my wonderful friends and family enjoying the Great Outdoors.

Summer, you will be missed.

... boredummmmmm

YOUTUBE Q&A Long overdue ...

mannymetal: trinidy do you have instagram?

nope. i can't get addicted to another thing! i've chosen twitter and youtube as my medium.
792bnz: ok?!?! just out of curiousity; you're not a fan of anderson silva and you're not a fan of jon jones. what fighter do you like?
What I mean when I say "I'm not a fan" is strictly just that - I am not a fan. I don't get excited for their upcoming fights. I don't enjoy watching their fights to where I would pay to see them LIVE. And I wouldn't waste my money to travel and see a UFC main event unless the fighter was fighting someone that I would spend my money on.  This holds true to other fighters, not just Silva or Jones.
It's like a record you play over and over and over again ... you love the song the first few times .. maybe even a few years.. but then it just gets old.  However - something magical can happen and you'll run into the record years later and will love it once again.
After Jones submitted Vitor.. I could't help but be impressed with that win.  Vitor gave him a great challenge and Jones definitely rose to the occasion.
As for some of the fighters (new and old) I do like - or 'am a fan of..' - that I would pay to watch at a UFC event are in no particular order:  Junior Dos Santos, Shogun Rua, Forrest Griffin, Josh Koshcheck, Dan Henderson, Michael Bisping, Rich Franklin, Cain Velasquez, Vitor Belfort, Rampage Jackson, Wanderlei Silva, Dan Hardy, Kyle Noke, Rory MacDonald, Clay Guida, Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Scott Jorgensen, ... ummm that's all I can think of right now.  hmm... oh and maybe add in Fedor Emelianenko.
television is killing my braincells ...
or perhaps it's this computer?  I find myself staring at illuminated screens constantly throughout the day.    This has got to be bad for my eyes.  Considering I'm halfway to blind, it would be wise for me to start saving my poor eyes from reaching their inevitable future far sooner than need be.  Besides, television is not teaching me anything.  Primetime is definitely not educating me.  So I should start reading.  give these braincells of mine something to absorb.  I go to the library....

The librarian asks "What was the last book you read?"
I reply, "Do magazines count?"

---
still haven't picked up a good read ... any suggestions?  and please don't say Fifty Shades of Grey. Bore.

#UFC152 - Jones still champ.. what else is new??

Kyle Noke KO's Charlie Brenneman

... in the first minute of the first round.  The stoppage: debatable.  Nevertheless Kyle Noke wins, and that keeps me happy!

Michael Bisping defeats Brian Stann

... will he now get a shot at Anderson Silva?  Maybe after Stephan Bonnar.  Either way, Bisping will probably have a shot at Silva but whether its for the middleweight championship would have to depend if Silva beats Bonnar in October.  If Bonnar miraculously hails victor over Silva, should Bisping have a shot at him or should Silva get a rematch?  But until then, who should Bisping go up against next...

Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson: FLYWEIGHT CHAMP

... I gave Johnson the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds.  The fight seemed so close until they showed the stats on the screen.  I told them, I says " If Johnson makes it to the championship rounds still fresh and focus,  he's got the decision win.."  Wonder how he feels being the first title holder?

Jon 'Bones' Jones vs. Vitor 'the Phenom' Belfort

... and so it may be hearsay that Vitor 'didn't want to break his arm' when he had him in submission. The fighter Vitor is, I can accept that its possible he didn't want to end ruin the career of Jones.  COME ON!!  Jon Jones is not going to knocked out or beat by decision. Submission was the perfect move VITOR!!! Pop that arm! Pop pop POP -- just like Ronda Rousey did Meisha Tate!

BAM!

sidenote: 5 more days until my birthday month!!  xoxo

@trinidypicks: Dan Henderson vs. Jon Jones; #UFC151

Sept 1, 2011 - Dan Henderson vs. Jon Jones

After tomorrow's UFC150, we will have to wait almost a three weeks for our next mma fix. It will most likely be the first card I won't be able to watch as I will be basking in the sun out in the ocean somewhere; I pray for sunshine!

Unfortunately the main event is one that I yearn to watch LIVE.  By live, I mean .. IN PERSON! Why? because.....

Dan Henderson... mr. Hendo - NO, NOT BENDO! (that copycat!) - HENDO!

Mention this guy to me against anyone and who do I pick?  Obvious?!!!

I can't believe that this fight is going down when I'm away. What's worst is that I'm not even 'away' to go watch the event!  I started watching Hendo during his pride days and he's one fighter I will never go against.

By far my most FAVOURITE, MEMORABLE, PROUDEST MOMENT was when he defeated Fedor Emelianenko in 2011.  I loved it! I have a picture of my TV screen of him on top of the cage with his hands raised.  Beautiful.

... and now, I won't be able to see this fight?!  Such. Bad. Luck.

So I'm putting it out there... I want HENDO TO WIN.  To beat Jones in outstanding fashion -via Knockout.

I could see it now, Jones is clinging onto the belt now like never before.  "Hendo beat Fedor.  Can I beat Fedor?  this isn't looking to good... uh-oh..."

Hendo is looking at this like.... "Finally my chance to raise what's rightfully mine.. UFC GOLD!"

It was unfortunate that Hendo had both his Pride championships unified into the UFC and ended up handing victories to Anderson Silva and Rampage Jackson.  But now is the time.  He beat Fedor Emelianenko for goodness sake!  The Last freaking EMPEROR!!!!!

LOL .. okay now I'm getting all worked up!  Let's hope that Hendo gets a KO - shall we?  I know I will.

:)

"Kobe Bryant said WHAT?!?" #michaelvskobe

Headlining News:

A question for the ages:

Michael Jordan vs. Kobe Bryant.  really? REALLY?

and the challenger.  Bryant. 13th pick round one. Pro-Career: 1996-present (16 years)
KOBE BRYAN'T'S STATS

and the reigning champion. JORDAN. 3rd pick round one. Pro-Career: 1984 - 2003 (19 years)

MICHAEL JORDAN'S STATS

A little room for discussion?

So Jordan played pro basketball for a total of 19 years.  Bryant is currently at 16.  Which then results in the fact that in 3 years time, Bryant will never surpass the Jordan's career achievements.  Albeit there are some highlights that Bryant has a chance at.  But, the overall success that Jordan has reached throughout his entire career is something that Bryant will be unable to compete with.

BESIDES... JORDAN ALSO PLAYED MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL FOR BIRMINGHAM BARONS - aff(il) Chicago White Sox - while on his first retirement run.  How awesome is he?

#UFC147: Rich FRANKLIN vs Wanderlei SILVA

UFConFX-4 was disappointing.

- although.... I did come out getting 2for4, I'm still left with a aggravation I just can't shake.  Yes, I'm talking about the main event: Gray Maynard's attempt to fight Clay Guida.

Seriously! What the heck went wrong?  On paper this fight looked to be a great main event.  Somehow it managed to reduce itself to nothing more than a really lame fight.

Okay, so I'm being a little hard on Guida. Let's be clear, he still will remain as one of my favourite fighters in UFC. However, it would be nice if next fight he brought back the Guida that fought Ben Henderson (on UFC on Fox).  I can only wait and see.

I do think that this fight set him back a few steps and he'll have to regain Dana White's respect again after such a lacklustre performance.

UFC 147 : RICH FRANKLIN VS. WANDERLEI SILVA

Now here's two fighters that after such a poor showing at UFConFX, won't allow for it to happen during their main event in Brazil!  These two are old school.  Fighters with massive hearts for the sport. It would be surprising if they swayed away from their reputations but who knows what will happen?

I just hope that Rich Franklin hangs in there long enough to damage and slow down Wanderlei Silva.  Who hopefully in turn will go 'Ax Murderer' on Rich and attack in full force and land that one knockout punch.  Essentially, this fight should be good.  So here's to hope!

ADDITIONAL POST:

Great... 10 days until the next UFC event. I'm in desperate need of another 'fight fix' ... pun INTENDED!  Bahaha, I STILL CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT PACQUIAO LOST on Saturday. That is the epitome of of the phrase:  Don't Leave It To The Judges.

On June 22nd(UFConFX) and June 23rd(UFC147), I expect to see a few knockouts.  Lots of birds destined to be flying around in the ring that weekend.

my predictions.

UFC on FX
Ross Pearson/Cub Swanson ... I'd like for Pearson to have a KO here in his featherweight debut.
Brian Ebersole/TJ Waldburger ... Ebersole has been undefeated since 2008, 10 straight wins. TJ Waldburger walking in with 2 straight.  Ebersole KO here.
Sam Stout/Spencer Fisher ...  Go Canada Go! Sam Stout to win decision
Gray Maynard/Clay Guida ... I've said it before, I'll say it again... I'm such a Clay Guida Fan!  So I definitely want him to come out victorious and set us up for another viewing of the best hair match-up in all of UFC:  Bendo vs Guida 2.  Guida's performance vs. Bendo was impressive and still stands out in my memory.  I wish for a KNOCKOUT but a straight win will make me just as happy!

UFC147
First, I'd like to say that:  Really? This is a PPV Main Card?  Really?  If These fighters are so worthy for a PPV event, then wouldn't it be safe to say that they deserve to have the picture up for the promo on the UFC site??  Case in hand:

Poor, Vieira and Dias ... fighters with no face.
Wanderlei Silva/Rich Franklin ... Like I said... I WANT TO SEE A KNOCKOUT!! I feel the only way for that to happen is if that KO was delivered by Wanderlei.  In this case, that seems to be the likely scenario.  I'd like Wanderlei to KO Franklin in the first round.

My Favourite Pastime:  ROULETTE

So when I came across this article while zombie-reading the latest 'news' on Yahoo! , I couldn't help but scream out loud: "How am I not in Vegas?!?" ( - said with all the essence of Andy Samberg as Nicholas Cage)

Timothy Bradley To Return Belt To It's "Rightful Owner"

On Monday following his jaw dropping split decision win over Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley posted on his Facebook the following words:
"After reviewing the tape over 10 times, and listening to what all my fans and haters had to say about the fight.  I have made a decision, I shall return this belt to its true, and rightful owner. ..."
The gesture (as nice that it is), ultimately is meaningless as regards to the books.  ON RECORD, Manny Pacquiao still was served a horrendous LOSS - not by Bradley, but from the judges.

In combat sport, or any sport where judging is at play - as an athlete you need to put out your absolute best.  Prove and show without any doubt that you deserve the win.

Unfortunately sometimes the judges pockets are full are so blind that even your best is not enough.

Furthermore, it was an exciting fight and to see a Bradley vs Pacquiao 2 would be an incredible show.  Bradley came to fight, Pacquiao came to fight ... and Floyd Mayweather, Jr : stuck in jail.

@DanaWhite laughs at @UrijahFaber

Urijah Faber seems to be loving himself in this clip ... and I'm loving him too! Flush the key down the toilet, this video needs to be locked in as being the best video starring a UFC fighter hands down. Seriously. I doubt the guys out there will find it as amusing as the female population but rest assured that it indeed brings out laughs.

Chael Sonnen vs Anderson Silva in Brazil?

After my rant on my youtube, I've been asked numerous times - "Why do you hate Chael so much?!"

Simple answer is: I DON'T... I hate to lose money and even more I get frustrated when I expect something and I get the opposite.

Yes, my rant on Chael was a bit nasty but as far as I'm concerned I was upset my bankroll lost that night and I wanted to vent.  The only person I felt I could do that on was Chael Sonnen - and it was fun.

NOW LET'S MOVE ON... to his next match.

Chael Sonnen will challenge Anderson Silva to a rematch the mma (UFC) community has been waiting for since 2010.  I have been waiting for this moment since I took Sonnen to win the first time and lost my bet in the last minute of the 5th round to him tapping out from a successful armbar.  GRRR... but how can one complain then when that fight has got to be one of the best performances vs Silva around?  At least it went to the 5th round! Which I am hoping will happen again.

Looking at the circumstances behind this rematch - I think it's completely bullshit unfair that Dana White is setting up this bout to be in Silva's hometown of Brazil.  Chael Sonnen needs to step up here and open that loud mouth of his and rain heck down Dana's ears.  For as far as he believes, Sonnen is the true champ and therefore this match should be done in his home state of Oregon.

Come on Dana! I realize that Silva is one of your top money makers, but you're basically setting up Chael Sonnen for failure.  To place him in a crowd filled with Anderson Silva fans, I can't see anything good coming out of this.  As far as I'm concerned: Chael Sonnen is the middleweight's best chance unseating the current reigning champ Anderson Silva.

Chael Sonnen has shown that he is capable to taking down one of the most feared guys in mma.  Anderson Silva's diverse standup and (rarely seen) ground game was no threat to Sonnen back in 2010.      Even after 5 rounds of giving Silva a beat down, Sonnen got caught with the armbar.  This time around, I don't think Sonnen will let his guard down.  I doubt that he'll let Silva pull off another miracle win.

With Silva being the counter-attacker that he is, I see this bout being a mirror image of the last one.  Except that this time, I'm sure Sonnen won't let the belt slip away.

"Sonnen, put some power behind those grenade fists of yours and blast that Spider away!"

PICK: Chael SONNEN @ +215 ;  as the line moves I'd take Sonnen at min +215 but I'm sure it will deepen as the fight approaches.

SUPERBOWL XLVI (46) - Prop Bet Picks

---------------------------

I wait all year for this day, where I am able to make some fun bets to make watching the Super Bowl more exciting.  I look forward to seeing the halftime show - which will be featuring Madonna - this year.   I'm sure it'll be exciting, wish i was there to see that mini-concert LIVE .. but the tele will have to do.

It's sad to know that NFL 2011-2012 Season is wrapping up and only hours away from being over for the year.  CRAP!  Now it means I have spend my Sundays doing something other than watching NFL all day long.  At least my tele bill will be lower considering I won't have to buy the NFL Ticket until next season.

Next best thing about Super Bowl....  is knowing I'm only a month away from MARCH MADNESS!!!

----------------------------

UFConFOX: Evans vs Davis; Sonnen vs Bisping

A new year has started and what's better than ending January with a free fight on primetime FOX??  Starting off February with a much anticipated fight:  Carlos Condit vs Nick Diaz.... more of that in another post.

I've posted a vlog rant on my irritation of Chael Sonnen's annoying ego/attitude.
You can go ahead and watch it on my Youtube.com/trinidy channel.
interaction is the key to an interesting life.
My top favourite comments:

:made me laugh ....

Chael's stock went down with me when he verbally assaulted Arianny Celeste. Are you kidding me?? Arianny Celeste? He is an idiot. Good fighter, but an idiot.
I think Trinidy peaked with 5 F-bombs in 45 seconds - might be a youtube record. I'll have to go back and give it another listen.

:Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen

  • Why would CHael have to leave the UFC? even if he somehow by Silva benefiting miracle (again) lost, Silva never accepted his challenge. I know people like Anderson Silva but do you really think that a "broken rib", and a medically prescribed (and approved for his last few fights) steroid is why Anderson got beat the fuck down? seriously, watch Silvas fight vs Takase, Hendo, Lutter, and even the first okami fight, then think of how much better sonnen is at wrestling then all of them combined
  • @thnk4urself i just think now he's comical for me to care at this point. don't get me wrong, i took the dog bet vs silva, and if only Chael would've got the TKO/KO I would say yeah he's top dog - I hated Silva for his performance against Maia - and Chael dominated for 4 rounds ... excessively pummeling Silva: but still didnt finish the fight.
  • @thnk4urself Now u got wresting or jiu jitsu as base ground game in mma, & against Silva, Chael couldn't capitalize with his wrestling. Broken rib or not - Silva managed to show that not only can he take a beating but even on his back he is fully capable of a submission, Black belt BJJ trumps wrestling apparently when it comes to Silva. its be nice to see more than the 1st rnd w/ Silva - so i'm actually excited for the Sonnen/Silva fight.. Some pretty crazy amazing shit is bound to happen.
:most informative ....

  • @trinidy Chael is overatted until he beats Anderson then props to him to, but it seem like now of the sudden everybody thinks Sonnen is the Ali of MMA.
  • @Damondeeh20 all ppl remember is Silva being on his back for 4 rounds.. its not like sonnen finished that fight either.. Sonnen is no finisher, but why couldn't he do that to Bisping? cuz he's not on steroids no more.. :s
  • @trinidy actually Sonnen is still on those "steroids". He gets TRT prescribed for hypogonadism, it's a condition that causes him to have much lower testosterone than a normal guy. In his last 2 fights, and the few fights before the title fight, he has got approval and taken those same "roids". Before the Silva fight, he just didn't get approval because he didn't think he had to. That's why his suspension was cut in half, because he was within the medical limit & just failed to get approval

...

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to fight in May?

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was sentenced to 3 months in jail for his guilty plea to one charge of felony battery and two counts of harassment (which he pleaded no contest) against his ex-girlfriend and verbal threats against their two children.

Instead of being hauled off to jail, Mayweather's attorney asked Las Vegas Judge Melissa Saragosa to delay the start of the sentence.  Looks like that wish was granted.

Turns out Mayweather needs time to train and prepare for his May 5, 2012 fight against an unknown opponent.  Many people are expecting to see World Boxing Organization Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao as his prime competitor.  Will it happen?

I doubt it.  Regardless of Mayweather receiving the postponement, of  the amount of time he has to commit, promote and prepare for any upcoming fight.  The chances of him fighting Pacquiao is much or less the same as it has always been... slim to none.

What does that mean for boxing fans around the world?  For the boxing industry?  For all those that could potentially benefit (whether directly or indirectly) from such a fight?

You'll get to see the fight, play it out - over and over again.... In Your Dreams.
