WEC Goes Out With a BANG!

WEC promotion ended its run on Thursday, December 16, 2010.  With all the excitement of the WEC-UFC merger, this final fight card truly showed the talent that WEC has to offer.  The WEC 53 fight card will re-air on Versus, Saturday, Dec 18, 2010.
Truly an amazing finale for the WEC promotion.  The card was well put and the main event showed true mma spirit and ended in stylish fashion.  With what looked to be a close call, at 2 rounds each fighter, the 5th and final round was pure excitement.  Asking each fighter to 'Let it all out' for the last and final round of WEC.  Anthony Pettis took it to the cage. Training and preparation led him to knock Ben Henderson off his feet and to the ground with a 'cage kick' now dubbed "The Showtime Kick" with only half a minute left.    However it was by unanimous decision that that took the title away from Henderson, and placed it on the waist of Anthony "Showtime" Pettis.  Making Pettis the final WEC Lightweight champion and the #1 Contender for the UFC lightweight belt.
