Some of the trending hashtags in the Twittersphere this morning.

Mark Chipman, the chairman of the True North Sports and Entertainment confirmed that indeed the company had purchased the Atlanta Thrashers Franchise.  The deal is however "subject to the approval of the NHL board of Governers on June 21, 2011."

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman made it clear that 13,000 season tickets should be sold before the June 21 deadline to ensure a positive outcome. Directly putting forward that "This isn't going to work very well unless this building is sold out every night."  A little doubt in his voice makes me wonder if he believes that's impossible?

The plea is greater than ever.  With the original Winnipeg Jets leaving back in 1996, will Winnipeg be able to stay true to word this time and keep this new NHL franchise afloat?  Seat prices range from $39 - $129 CAD. Reasonable. The goal of 13,000 season tickets?  Considering the fan base and voice backing the original Winnipeg Jets, I don't see how Winnipeg can fall short.

Here's to the NHL Board of Governors.. Let Christmas Come Early!
