RECAP: FIGHT FOR THE TROOPS 2

UFC put on their 2nd Fight For The Troops event in Fort Hood, Texas. Great event showcasing several standout fighters.

First up, we saw Matt Wiman take a unanimous victory over Cole Miller. Wiman taking control early, catching Miller with quick combinations. On the ground, Wiman showed exceptional ground-and-pound by throwing hammerfists and elbows from the top position. Miller unable to keep the fight standing, ate Wiman's fists all night long. An dominating performance by Winman.

Pat Barry attacked Joey Beltran's left leg throughout their fight. Putting on display his damaging kicks. Beltran kept Barry pinned to the cage as much as he could while trying desperately to take Barry down. In the 3rd
we saw just how lethal Barry's kicks really are with a devastating blow to Beltran's left leg, crippling Beltran to the ground with only a minute left. In the end, Beltran looking for mercy from Barry's kicks. Well deserved unanimous decision for Pat Barry.

Canadian Mark Hominick defeats George Roop. With a TKO finish in the first round, Hominick shocked Roop with with a left hook, tagged him again with a right and finished it off with another big left before the referee put a stop to the fight. I really don't care for Hominick doing push-ups as his victory celebration. Slightly less annoying than GSP's flips and Ortiz's 'shovel', I guess? Hominick earns a chance to go up against Jose Aldo in Toronto for UFC 129.

Fellow Canadian Tim Hague, not as lucky. Heavyweight Matt Mitrione looking comfortable in the octagon, moving well on his feet. Hague without question looking inferior in his striking. Matt Mitrione dropped Hague with straight left and finished it off on the ground. First round TKO finish for Mitrione.

Evan Dunham taking on step-in Melvin Guillard, in the main event of the night. Guillard the 2-1 underdog proved that his switch to Jackson's camp has been to his advantage. There was little success for Dunham. Determined to get Guillard on the ground, he failed…. over and over again. Guillard showed tremendous improvement in his takedown defence. He caught Dunham midway through the first with a huge knee to the face. Dunham losing his footing, allowing Guillard to capitalize and take the fight.

Overall, this card as full of excitement and upsets. Next card on the books? UFC 126 - Superbowl Weekend.
